Welcome back, Bows! 🌈🌴We hope you had a restorative break! The FDM program has been productive over the summer, so let's recap and bring in the positive energy into the fall semester.
[Tue, July 14, 2026 | CTAHR: Talk with HS Counselors]
Minako presented the FDM program to eight counselors representing five high schools (Le Jardin Academy, Roosevelt HS, Kalani HS, Nānākuli HS, and Kanu o ka ʻĀina HS on the Big Island). Thank you so much, Dr. McCarthy, for representing FDM at this event during summer break. We greatly appreciate your time and effort in introducing our program.
[Wed, Aug 19, 2026 | NSO Day 1 Event]
A total of 23 new UH students participated in the NSO Day 1 event. While only 5-6 were FDM majors, the non-FDM majors were very enthusiastic about learning about fashion. The Stole Society introduced the student club, Minako hosted a Fashion Exhibition & Storyboard Development workshop, and Dr. Kang led a two-hour 3D Fashion CAD workshop with assistance from two FDM students, Elliana and Yolene. Special mahalo to Dr. McCarthy for her dedicated contributions! We are also so grateful to Elliana, Yolene, and the Stole Society for their support. We successfully wrapped up the NSO workshop event in the AgSci 215 lab.
[Thu, Aug 20, 2026 | NSO Day 2 Event]
Today, 17 incoming FDM students participated in the NSO Day 2 event. Most are from Maui, and others are from California. Dr. Kang presented an overview of the FDM program and curriculum. Xiaohan voluntarily attended and shared her background, expertise, and course offerings. Elliana spoke about her experience in FDM. It was wonderful to introduce our new faculty and student representative to incoming students. Thank you, Dr. Lin and Elliana!
