OLA writing tutor Greg Gushiken was featured on the Native American Political Leadership Program page! Greg is currently interning in Washington, D.C. for the Office of Hawaiian Affairs. Congratulations, Greg!
Meet Gregory who is Native Hawaiian! Here's his advice for succeeding in college: "thinking of the communities that make you and shape you as a person is critical to succeeding in college. Whatever you decide to study in college, remembering the people who sparked a passion in you to make a difference in the world is critical to get through long nights filled with the scent of burnt coffee, the clacking of a keyboard, and an to-do list that seems to grow every time you look away."

Congratulations to OLA tutor Tani Loo! Tani's piece, "Locating Voices," is featured in the Writing Lab Newsletter's "Connecting Writing Centers Across Borders" issue! Visit WLN: A Journal of Writing Center Scholarship's blog for more info.
From Locating Voices by Tani Loo on Connecting Writing Centers Across Borders:
"She sits facing you like all the others who have wandered down your path, but when she opens her mouth to say something—anything, really—no words come out. And when you try to answer her, you find that your voice is lost too."
