Engineering Alumni !
This Friday, we’re featuring Camille Gozum, who works at GHD as a Staff Civil Engineer/Project Manager. Currently, she’s responsible for program coordination of multidisciplinary team from across several regions working to deliver design documents for two large Navy projects.
She has six years of experience in general civil engineering design and preparation of planning documents (DD1391) for projects in the Pacific region including Hawaii, Guam, Saipan, Rota, Palau, Yap, and Philippines. She got her PE licence (HI) in 2023 and her Envision Sustainability Professional (ENV SP) in 2024.
Aside from work, she currently serves as the Membership Chair for Hawaii Water Environment Association (HWEA) and the Communications and Outreach Director for the Society of Military Engineers (SAME) Honolulu Post. This year, she was selected to participate in SAME’s National Leader Development Program, which is a year-long program that aims to cultivate talent and develop leaders for the future of the A/E/C profession.
Outside of work, she also enjoys reading books and eating hotpot. She plays pickleball with friends! She also plays Stardew Valley on her Switch, trying to get perfection for one of her farms one day! :)
One advice she has for current students is to advantage of your time in school, not only to develop technical skills, but to also develop discipline when completing tasks and projects. “When you start your first job, I recommend reading the article “The Unwritten Laws of Engineering” by W.J. King and James G. Skakoon for valuable practical advice.”
