Cello Spa began with my dog, Mochi.
This past year, Mochi was diagnosed with small T-cell lymphoma after a long struggle with chronic enteropathy. He also deals with intense separation anxiety, and we noticed that calming dog videos and soft music seemed to help when he was left home alone.
What surprised me was that the music began calming me, too.
As a classical musician, relaxation music was a new world for me. I started to understand how powerful music can be when it isn’t asking for attention, but simply creating a peaceful space to exist in.
After such a difficult year, Mochi and I made a little pact: to create something that would give us more quality time together while also helping others.
That became Cello Spa.
I made the album for people looking for healing, reflection, meditation, sleep, massage, or simply a moment to slow down. But I also made it for dogs like Mochi who struggle with separation anxiety.
The video (coming soon) features three of Mochi’s favorite places in Hawaiʻi: Magic Island, Kapiʻolani Park, and Waimānalo Beach.
More than anything, this project became a reminder to be present, appreciate the time we are given, and find moments of peace wherever we can.
