Huge congratulations to Research Resident Brad Pierce for being recognized by MG Bartholomees, 25th ID Commanding General and US Army Hawaii Senior Commander, for developing the System for Prolonged Intravascular Resuscitation in Trauma (SPIRIT), a compact device that has been shown to function as ECMO, CRRT, and REBOAVC in animal models

Brad was also named to the Forbes ‘30 under 30’ Healthcare list for 2026 for developing this technology! Amazing work Brad!!

Because surgery isn’t challenging enough, some of our gen surg fam ran a marathon in the rain this past week 🏃‍♀️‍➡️🏃‍♂️‍➡️

Dr. Elseth ran the marathon 10 days after hiking to Mt Everest Base Camp cuz she’s a boss!!
