HPU OTD Honolulu students traveled to St. Lucia (the "Hawai'i of the Caribbean") for a service-learning experience in April 2026.

Dr. Hart and Dr. Coker-Bolt guided students and worked with Zanique Edwards, the only OT in St. Lucia. Together, they leaned on each other, supported each other, and worked closely with children, adults, and families.

Thank you for having us! We’re excited to return to St. Lucia in 2027. Learn more about our OTD program: https://www.hpu.edu/gchs/otd/honolulu/index.html

Today, we honor King Kamehameha I, whose leadership united the Hawaiian Islands and whose legacy continues to shape Hawaiʻi's culture, values, and spirit.

At HPU OTD Honolulu, we are grateful to learn and serve in a place deeply rooted in the principles of aloha, kuleana, and mālama. As we celebrate King Kamehameha I Day, we recognize the importance of community, stewardship, and service to others—values that continue to guide future occupational therapists in their work and daily lives.

Happy King Kamehameha I Day. 🌺

Mental health is deeply connected to the occupations, routines, relationships, and environments that shape our everyday lives.

During Mental Health Awareness Month, we recognize the important role occupational therapists play in supporting emotional well-being, resilience, and meaningful participation in daily life. From helping individuals rebuild routines to creating supportive spaces for healing and connection, OT is about caring for the whole person.

At HPU OTD Honolulu, our students learn to lead with aloha, compassion, and purpose as they prepare to support the diverse needs of the communities they serve. 💙

From all of us in the HPU OTD program, thank you for everything you do. 🩵
