Recently our graduating 4th years participated in TC3, or Tatical Combat Casulty Care, where they learned important skills such as needle decompression, placing a tourniquet, wound packing, etc. Many also got to fly in a helicopter over the beautiful island of Oahu!

Congratulations to our 2024 graduates! Their hard work has paid off and they will continue their pattern of excellence at their fellowships and next duty stations!

First day at the APA! Tripler Psychiatry had multiple residents present posters as well as a symposium on Moral Injury in the Military. Special shout out for LTC Sowden who gave his final military presentation before retirement. Congratulations sir!

Merry Christmas from our Ohana to yours!

Our program is starting off the holiday season with a holiday spirit week. For the second day of spirit week and the 5th day of Hannukah one of our residents taught us how to play dreidel! Happy Hannukah, Chag Sameach!

A few weeks ago we had our fall retreat where our residents get together in a non work setting to evaluate the program. It's an excellent opportunity to have our voices heard to continue to improve the program...it's also an excellent opportunity to strengthen the bonds between our residents and explore our beautiful island!

When asking our residents their favorite things about Tripler Psychiatry, a few themes stand out:

1. The people - this is the most common answer with the majority of our residents noting the inviting atmosphere and sense of family.

2. The island's unique activities - hiking, scuba, snorkeling, culture, food! These are a few of the things our residents like to do outside of work.

3. Honorable mention - The ocean view from our offices!

On Wednesdays we focus on wellness. Did you know that Tripler Psychiatry has its very own Wellness Task Force that coordinates wellness events both inside and out of the hosptial?
