THE INOUYE LIGHTHOUSE: Interior Secretary Ken Salazar signed the papers to rename the Kilauea Lighthouse on the island of Kauai. It will become the Daniel K. Inouye Point Lighthouse, named in honor of the late U.S. Senate President Pro-Tempore and alumnus of McKinley High School.

For over 50 years, McKinley High School has had a presence in Congress by alumnus Daniel Inouye. Today, that representation was made unbroken with the swearing in of Tammy Duckworth of Illinois, representing many suburbs of Chicago in the 113th Congress.

ENGLISH CLASS: A teacher asked the students to punctuate the following sentence, "A woman without her man is nothing." The boys in the class wrote, "A woman, without her man, is nothing." The girls in the class wrote, "A woman: without her, man is nothing." Punctuation is powerful.
