Hawaii Photographers: Please check out this new opportunity:

I'm thrilled to share that I recently took on a new challenge related to photography - one I hope many local photographers will be interested in being a part of!

Many of you know that for the last couple of years I have volunteered to help get the Pacific New Media Contemporary Photography in Hawaiʻi exhibition up on the walls and staffed. That led directly to me being asked by Floyd Takeuchi and PF Bentley to take on a larger role as the coordinator of this November show at Downtown Art Center. It's been a wonderful experience so far! Here are the details:

CALL TO PHOTOGRAPHERS! Downtown Art Center is excited to announce the River to Richards: 2025 Documentary Photography in Hawai‘i exhibition, coming this November! We're inviting Hawai‘i-based photographers to submit powerful documentary images that tell the story of Honolulu’s Downtown/Chinatown district (between River Street and Richards Street).

This exhibition, juried by award-winning photojournalist PF Bentley, will pair selected contemporary works with vintage photographs, celebrating both the past and present of our vibrant urban core—DAC’s home and Honolulu's creative heart.

🗓️ Open Call Dates: August 4 – September 5, 2025
📍 Exhibition Location: Downtown Art Center Main Gallery, Honolulu
🎉 Exhibition Dates: November 6 – 29, 2025
💵 Entry Fees: $15 per single photo (limit 10), $45 per series (max 5 photos)
📣 Eligibility: Open to all amateur and professional photographers living in Hawai‘i
📌 Image Criteria: Must depict the Downtown/Chinatown Honolulu area; must not have appeared in prior O‘ahu exhibitions; no watermarks, please.
