I barely heard you enter.
I thought you had gifts to bear.
You revealed your uroboric center
And its truth left me aware.

I’m used to your depths
Though you called me deeper
Every fear you undressed
And the mountain grew steeper

I lost my way countless times
On your damp, cold forest floor
But I waited and trusted the signs
Until darkness revealed the door

The outer smiles conceal
Profound and groundless grief
In the depths I was revealed
The sacred restored beyond belief

You leveled my every illusion
Before it had the chance to fly
You saved me from further confusion
By rushing the questions, —why?

I cursed you, I fought you— I protested your plan
I judged you, though I am you — a truth I could hardly stand.

Adversity crippled my every lie
A Bitter Sweet paradox
An old identity fell from the sky
And cracked open on the rocks

Only that which has been broken—dissolved
Has the chance to be remade anew and true
This is the cycle around which life revolves
Circles upon circles spiral into the blue

Had you not the courage to unravel me
It might have taken years for me to see

I know now sweet snake, how misunderstood you are
Yet you quietly pay that no mind as you heal every scar

Your bite stung and your path obscured the ego’s plot
But the soul was your muse, and Her rebirth your lot

So I thank you and I honor you, dear wise snake
For teaching me there is magic in my heart —
You swallowed me into a dream that made eternity quake
In that underworld, I remembered —who I am is Art.

What are we living for if we need trigger warnings? Isn’t the purpose of life to give a ****?

Or at least learn… added “soteriological” to my tool belt. I can feel the paradigm shift beneath my feet when new perspectives are acquired. With all of this knowledge at our fingertips and still the attentional capacity addicts us to the doom scroll. 🤯

What is a warrior traveler to do? … make a post I guess.

Among my research, I’m also rereading “The active side of Infinity” for probably the third time. The mythopoesis of the situation is captured beautifully by Castenada’s ongoing dialogue with the sorcerer Don Juan. Mistaking the myths for literalism is the definition of fundamentalism. But that doesn’t mean they aren’t the most eloquent bearers of truth speaking volumes about what we value and experience. Not all myths can free the mind, until you realize you are a myth maker. One definition of an artist is “myth maker.”

The term mythopoetic gets at the fact that the most important things we say and create don’t follow a linear, logical path. Truth speaks through the image, the art, and how it affects us mind, body and soul. Words can only, at best point to and explain the situation, the facts that are beyond the declaration of fact.

In the book, Don Juan is always laughing when Casteneda gets his mind blown. In the words of Ram Dass, “if you can’t laugh, it’s just not funny.”

Highlights from this past week’s women’s retreat. We dug deep. We raged, we grieved, we released and remembered. We came back to the embodied space of Self. I’m grateful that my mother and I have always had a special bond. Sometimes our thoughts are synced and I feel uniquely seen and understood by her and she by me. And sometimes we are complete opposites and have complementary lessons to learn and teach.

And sometimes we just laugh … these times are my favorite.

However your relationship is with your mother, it’s beautiful when you see the divine magic of why two souls choose this sacred relationship. There is no perfect relationship, mothers included— but unconditional love perfectly destroys all the ego’s notions of how it should be so we can truly be with how it is.

My mother has taught me more about love than anyone else. Love is not an emotion, or even a perspective… pure love, untainted by desires, attractions and aversions, likes and dislikes, is simply awareness, a field of energy both palpable and invisible.

The more aware you are, the more you can see and feel this field. You learn to see with eyes of the heart. Awareness sees with the whole being all that is there. All that is there is there to love. Awareness says, Yes.

Movement Alchemy returns in a longer format that is more spacious and in-depth. Our last container was a transformational, alchemical journey into the elements as embodied through partner dancing through the forms of ecstatic dance, contact improv and Brazilian zouk. This time we will delve deeper into the elementals and provide even more tools for working with your own body and with your partner to cocreate magic on the dance floor.

The teachings of Brazilian Zouk return to Puna! This workshop is for ecstatic dancers and contact improv dancers to learn the codes of Brazilian Zouk and enhance their dance expression, experience, connection and creativity.

Seasoned Zoukers are also welcome to explore connecting with the dance in a new way that focuses on training the embodiment of core concepts in real time exploration with a partner to discover a lead and follow that evolves organically from within.

Our purpose is not to ‘do’ the move but to feel it—To sense the core elements of our movements and find more subtlety, connection and craft in the space we create within ourselves and within the connection with our partner.

This immersion will merge the physical and metaphysical for a dance experience that is truly an alchemical process. You will not leave the same dancer as you came in.
