🎉 All work and no play? Not at Machen Elementary! 🎉

Who says teacher workdays can’t be FUN? 😎 A HUGE Mustang shoutout to Ms. Goodson and our amazing Hospitality Committee for serving up smiles, laughter, and a little friendly competition with Hospitality Pong! 💙💛

Our hardworking staff got a chance to unwind, connect, and let their competitive sides shine! 😂

Is it rude, mean, or bullying?

Those words can get used interchangeably, but they do not all mean the same thing. Teaching kids the difference helps them understand what happened, put language to it, and know what kind of support they may need next.

Rude behavior may be thoughtless or hurtful in the moment.
Mean behavior is intended to hurt. Bullying involves repeated behavior and a power imbalance.

October is Bullying Prevention Month, which makes this a great time to have these conversations before situations escalate. The goal is never to minimize a child's feelings.

Something can be deeply hurtful without meeting the definition of bullying, and every situation still deserves support, guidance, and follow up.

The more accurately we can name what is happening, the better we can help our kids navigate it.

Save this guide, share it with another parent or educator, and talk through it with your kids. What do you think is the hardest distinction for students to understand?

October is National Principals Month, and we want to give a BIG Mustang shoutout to our amazing principal, Mr. Barkley! 🐎👏🏽

Thank you for your leadership, dedication, encouragement, and for keeping our Mustang family moving in the right direction! We know leading a school is no easy task, especially when you’re responsible for a whole herd of Mustangs! 😂🐎

Your hard work never goes unnoticed, and we appreciate everything you do to make Machen Elementary a wonderful place to learn, grow, and shine! 🌟

We ended our Color of the Day celebration in style with GRAY! From red all the way to gray, our Machen Mustangs showed up, showed out, and filled our hallways with COLOR! 🌈🐴✨
