The Visual Poets also work to make a positive contribution to the Hampton Roads community. We the members of the Visual Poets Society vow to liberate the realm of the arts through self-expression and true emotion; inspire and motivate others to release their inner artist; and change the world with one brush, one stanza, one vase, and one voice. The purpose of the Visual Poets Society is to enrich
the mind of the arts; broaden the acceptation of the arts on the campus of Hampton University; provide a community of recreation and self-expression; nurture the creativity and artistic genius of the student body; and establish a union of artists that will network and utilize their gifts to make a difference in the world. The Visual Poets Society shall be a platform for students to gain confidence in their respective area(s) of the arts; improve and cultivate their communicative, leadership, writing, and interpersonal skills; and service and interconnect the Hampton University community with the Hampton Roads community at large.
