Since 1868, Hampton University has prepared students for lives of leadership and service, educating generation after generation at our beloved Home by the Sea. Hampton University alumna Deshala Dixon '98 has been named the 2026 Assistant District Attorney of the Year by the District Attorneys' Association of Georgia, one of the state's highest honors for a prosecutor.

The prestigious award recognizes outstanding service, professionalism, and dedication to the pursuit of justice. Dixon was selected through a vote of Georgia's elected District Attorneys in recognition of her exceptional work as Deputy Chief of the Special Victims Unit in the Augusta Judicial Circuit District Attorney's Office.

From the Hill to the courtroom, Assistant District Attorney Deshala Dixon continues to embody the true standard of Hampton excellence!

This summer, "A House Is Not a Home" brings together the work of Black women artists to explore home, identity, cultural lineage, and the stories that history too often leaves unseen.

Set within the intimacy of a home in Oak Bluffs, Martha’s Vineyard, the exhibition celebrates the power of Black art and the women who help shape and preserve our stories.

Join us for an afternoon of art and conversation, including a special panel on the importance of art in the African American community.

Meet Hampton University President Darrell K. Williams in conversation with gallerist Lewis Long and a featured artist.
