We are excited to share that Dr. Nicole Snyder's class has been selected to participate in the Build The Moon Challenge (BTMC) through the Virginia Space Grant Consortium this fall! The 8th Grade Earth Science class will take part in this unique innovative STEM experience, exploring lunar science, engineering, and problem-solving.🌎🌙

September 1st marked the 11th anniversary of the World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation, instituted for the Catholic Church by Pope Francis.

SMSS joined Pope Leo XIV and Catholics around the world in celebrating this special day at Mass, offering petitions for the protection and care of creation and giving thanks to God for the beauty of the world He has entrusted to us.

Members of our Marine Science Club played a special role in the Mass by serving, reading, and helping our school community prayerfully reflect on our responsibility to care for all of God’s creation.🌎

At Saint Mary’s, learning happens beyond the classroom! Led by Ms. Toomey, Marine Science offers our students exciting opportunities to explore and discover the world around them. Last Friday, our first graders visited the pier, learned safety rules, and went bird watching. They spotted a Great Blue Heron, Great Egret, and a family of ducks!
