🎉 Hampton City Schools Achieves 100% Full Accreditation AND 100% of Schools Meet or Exceed State Accountability Performance Benchmark!

We are proud to share strong results for Hampton City Schools:

✅ 29 out of 29 schools are Fully Accredited
✅ 29 out of 29 schools scored 80 points or higher under Virginia’s School Performance and Support Framework (SPSF), prior to the application of federal indicators
🏆 21 schools earned Distinguished status — the state’s highest performance category — up from six last year
💯 All four HCS high schools scored above 100 points

This marks the second consecutive year that 100% of HCS schools have earned Full Accreditation and represents significant year-over-year growth under Virginia’s accountability framework.

Last year, 27 of 29 schools reached the state’s 80-point benchmark and six schools earned Distinguished status. This year, every HCS school reached the benchmark, and the number of Distinguished schools increased from six to 21!

In addition to Virginia’s state accountability categories, the SPSF incorporates federally required accountability indicators under the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA). These measures may identify schools for additional support, including Targeted Support and Improvement (TSI), based on the performance of individual student groups.

For fall 2026, six HCS schools were identified for TSI based on the performance of their students with disabilities subgroup. These schools will develop targeted corrective action plans focused on improving outcomes for these students.

It is important to note that a TSI designation does not mean a school failed to meet Virginia’s overall performance benchmark. All six schools earned an overall SPSF score of at least 80 points before federal indicators were applied, and each remains Fully Accredited.

Our Armstrong Lions participated in an attendance challenge with the Bassette Pandas on Monday. Our lions won the challenge by a small margin with over 97% of our students in attendance!! Way to go Armstrong! Our students also wore blue on Monday to support No Bullying!

Our primary clubs started off on Friday! What creative artists we have! We had rock painting, pumpkin making and found leaf man in the leaves.

Our September Students of the Month are amazing lions! They ROAR every day!

Cameron Ollie Mrs. Rhodes’ Class Cameron is a very kind student. He is helpful and patient with his classmates. He always had a great attitude and happily goes along with whatever the day holds!
