EXPANSION OF OUR SCHOOL MEALS PROGRAM THROUGH DECEMBER 31, 2020
Effective immediately, Nelson County Public Schools will be serving meals at no charge to children 18 and under. The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has approved waivers for local school divisions and other federal meal program sponsors to implement and extend the Summer Food Service Program to provide meals to children in the community free of charge through December 31, 2020. The waivers support access to nutritious meals while minimizing exposure to COVID-19.
Meals are available to all children including those learning in-person or virtually and regardless of race, color, national origin, s*x, age or disability.
For information regarding meal distribution, visit our website at www.nelson.k12.va.us or follow us on social media at https://www.facebook.com/NCPSNEWS. Meals will be provided, on a first come, first served basis at the following times and locations:
Every Wednesday in a drive through setting, from 7:00-9:00 AM and again from 4:30-6:30 PM at the following school locations:
Rockfish River Elementary – 200 Chapel Hollow Rd, Afton, VA
Tye River Elementary – 5198 Thomas Nelson Hwy, Arrington, VA
Nelson County Middle/High School – 6919 Thomas Nelson Hwy, Lovingston, VA 22949
In addition, we will provide meals on Wednesdays from 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM at the following community locations: Lovingston Firehouse, Schuyler Community Center, Wingina Firehouse, Massie Mill’s Ruritan, Nellysford Shopping Center, Corner Market, Gladstone Fire Department and New Mount Church
Van delivery from 2:00 PM – 3:00 PM at Paloma Farm Road and Montreal Village
