As we conclude The Organization of Black Aerospace Professionals 50th Annual Conference, we reflect on the importance of visibility, connections, and opportunity.

These are some of the biggest challenges many students face as they prepare to enter the aviation industry. Conferences like OBAP create spaces for students to build meaningful connections, gain valuable insight, and see the possibilities available to them within aviation.

Every year students from both Hampton University and Elizabeth City State University collaborate on social events in preparation for OBAP’s annual conference.

One of OBAP’s main initiatives is to “inspire excellence by removing barriers through exposure, skill development, access, mentoring and advocacy”.

This has been especially important to our students as they venture through the OBAP Ascension Program into the aviation industry!
