Teachers and staff across the region participation in Rejuvenate

Hampton City Schools celebrated its16th annual Rejuvenate Summer Learning Conference on July 30, 2026. This year the conference was offered to both HCS and Region 2 educators for a half day of learning centered on growth, connection, and renewed purpose.

Held just prior to the start of the school year, Rejuvenate continues to serve as a signature professional learning experience. The conference provided opportunities for collaboration, reflection, and skill-building, with a theme focused on refueling, recharging and reigniting.

“The sessions were relevant, engaging, and thoughtfully designed to support the needs of educators. It was especially valuable for our new teachers to experience the importance of this work and see firsthand how meaningful professional learning can strengthen their practice and positively impact students,” said Natalie M. Street, Ed.S., instructional coordinator of PD & CTE., Isle of Wight County Schools.

This year more than 350 participants engaged in a variety of interactive sessions led by HCS educators, focusing on topics such as social-emotional learning, student engagement, instructional practices, and staff wellness. Like previous years, the conference emphasized practical strategies that educators can immediately apply in their classrooms and schools.

Participants had the opportunity to interact with 16 different vendors and enter to win door prizes sponsored by the Hampton Education Foundation, Brain POP, Follett Learning and SkillStruck.

Hey, Falcons!
We hope you're still having a fantastic summer!

Here's a quick shout-out to our custodians, Mr. Tim and Mr. Vance! Our halls are sparkling, and our school is almost ready because of them!

Behind the Scenes: HCS custodians prepare schools for a new year

Have you ever wondered what goes on in a school during summer vacation? Well, our custodians are a huge component to getting schools ready for when our teachers and students return in August.

They spend hours deep cleaning the school, disinfecting the restrooms, shampooing carpets, and cleaning and waxing the floors. In addition, they clean the outside grounds, as well as cleaning the windows and high dusting.

"Long before students and teachers walk through our doors, our custodians are hard at work making sure every school is clean, safe, and ready for learning,” said Hector Rodriguez, Hampton City Schools custodial services manager. “Their hard work and dedication throughout the summer help create welcoming spaces where students can thrive, and we are incredibly thankful for everything they do behind the scenes."

We thank these men and women for their dedication in working in our schools to get them ready for teaching and learning!
