FROM HAZY SKIES TO RAINY DAYS: TROPICAL WAVES POISED TO BRING A MULTI-DAY RAINFALL EVENT TO THE CARIBBEAN 🌧️

After several days of hazy skies and dry conditions caused by Saharan dust, a noticeable pattern change is on the horizon. A series of tropical waves moving westward across the Atlantic, combined with an active Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ), are expected to bring increasing moisture, more frequent showers, thunderstorms, and periods of locally heavy rainfall to parts of the Caribbean from midweek into the weekend. While the rainfall will be beneficial in many areas, localized flooding is possible where heavier downpours occur.

Tropical Wave #8 is forecast to enter the Southern region from Wednesday afternoon/evening while Tropical Wave #9 will move through on Friday into Saturday. These Waves will likely be accompanied by the ITCZ, which will enhance the showers across the Guianas and Trinidad.

So look out for a change in weather conditions over the several hours which is forecast to continue intermittently through the upcoming weekend of June 6th and 7th.

πŸŒ€ ATLANTIC HURRICANE SEASON 2026 BEGINS TODAY , JUNE 1STπŸŒ€

Today, June 1st, marks the official start of the 2026 Atlantic Hurricane Season, which runs through November 30th.

According to NOAA's Climate Prediction Center, the 2026 season is expected to be below average overall, with forecasts calling for:

β€’ 8 to 14 Named Storms
β€’ 3 to 6 Hurricanes
β€’ 1 to 3 Major Hurricanes (Category 3 or higher)

The forecast is influenced by the anticipated development of El NiΓ±o conditions, which typically increase wind shear across the Atlantic and can reduce tropical cyclone activity.

However, forecasters continue to stress an important message:

⚠️ It only takes ONE storm to make a season impactful.

Regardless of whether the season is forecast to be above average, near average, or below average, residents across Trinidad and Tobago and the wider Caribbean should use this time to review emergency plans, check supplies, stay informed, and be prepared.

Mora's Weather Network HD will continue monitoring the Atlantic Basin and providing weather updates, tropical outlooks, and hurricane information throughout the season.
