🚨 BIG NEWS FROM THE UNIVERSITY OF FLORIDA 🐊
Beginning with the Fall 2027 admissions cycle, the University of Florida will officially offer an Early Decision (ED) application option.
Here’s what families need to know:
📌 What is Early Decision?
Early Decision is a binding admissions plan.
This means:
✔️ Students apply early
✔️ Receive a decision earlier
✔️ If admitted, they are committed to attending UF and must withdraw applications from other colleges
📅 Important UF Early Decision Details:
• Applications Open: August 1
• ED Deadline: October 15
• Decision Release: December 11
• Available starting with students applying for Fall 2027 entry
🎯 Who should consider Early Decision?
Students who:
• Know UF is their clear #1 choice
• Have a strong academic profile ready by early senior year
• Feel comfortable committing before comparing all admissions offers
⚠️ Important Reminder:
Because ED is binding, families should carefully think through:
• Financial fit
• Scholarship possibilities
• Academic/program goals
• Overall college list strategy
UF will still continue offering:
✔️ Early Action (non-binding)
✔️ Regular Decision (non-binding)
This is a BIG shift in Florida admissions strategy, and it may change how students approach their college application timeline moving forward.
Families — this is exactly why having a strategic plan matters earlier than ever. 💡

Honored to be part of the 2026 Review Committee for the Hispanic Scholarship Consortium.
This one is personal. Every day, I work with Latino students and families who are navigating a system that was not built with them in mind. Being on the other side of that process, reading their stories, scoring their essays, and helping connect a student to funding, is not something I take lightly.
This year, the HSC received a record 1,092 applications. That number says everything. These students are showing up. The least we can do is show up for them, too.
Grateful for this opportunity. 🤍

🎓 BIG NEWS for families considering highly selective colleges…
Swarthmore College just announced a major financial aid expansion beginning Fall 2027.
Families earning $200,000 or less with typical assets may now qualify for financial aid that covers FULL TUITION.
A few important things families should know:
• Swarthmore will continue meeting 100% of demonstrated financial need
• Financial aid remains completely loan-free
• International students may still qualify for significant aid through a separate process
• Financial aid deadlines match admission deadlines
📅 Key Admission Deadlines:
Early Decision I: November 15, 2026
Early Decision II: January 4, 2027
Regular Decision: January 4, 2027
This is another reminder that highly selective colleges are continuing to invest in affordability and access for students.
Families: don’t assume a school is financially out of reach before understanding how aid actually works.
As always, strategic planning matters early.

🎓 “No More ‘Why Tulane?’ Essay… But Don’t Let That Fool You.”
Big admissions update from Tulane University for the 2026–2027 application cycle:
• Tulane has officially removed its supplemental essay requirement
• The university cited AI usage, outsourced consulting, and reducing barriers for students as key reasons for the change
• More applications are expected… which could mean an even lower admit rate 📈
So what does this REALLY mean for students?
✅ Demonstrated interest will matter MORE than ever
Campus visits, virtual tours, opening emails, attending events, and engaging with admissions may now play a much bigger role.
✅ Early Decision becomes even more strategic
Tulane has historically favored ED applicants. If it’s truly your top-choice school, that pathway may offer a stronger advantage.
Families — this is a reminder that college admissions continues to evolve quickly. A strong strategy is no longer just about grades and essays… it’s about understanding how colleges are evaluating students behind the scenes.

By asking and promoting a few short questions, college counseling programs can create a framework that helps prepare students for application success and elicits the support of teachers, administrators, and families in the process. The goal of our session is to teach secondary counselors about a program that informs different school constituencies about how all students can develop themselves into more confident and self-aware candidates for admission.

Big news in the world of college admissions!
The University of Chicago just announced a major expansion to its financial aid program beginning Fall 2027:
🎓 Families earning under $250,000 may qualify for FREE TUITION
🏠 Families earning under $125,000 may also receive housing, meals, and fees covered
📚 Expanded support through the Odyssey Scholarship Program
This is another reminder that highly selective colleges are working hard to become more accessible for students and middle-income families.
A “dream school” conversation should never end before understanding the actual financial aid possibilities.
