Taking the ACT online? Registration is not your last step.

Students taking the September 19 ACT online with their own device must complete the ACT Gateway device check by September 14.

ACT Student states that registrations will be canceled if the device check is not completed before the cutoff.

Add this checklist to your testing plan:

✔️ ACT Gateway installed
✔️ Device check passed
✔️ Photo uploaded
✔️ Admission ticket ready

Important: Personal Chromebooks are not supported. A school-managed Chromebook may be supported, but students may need help from their school’s IT department.

If any software changes after the device passes its check, ACT recommends running the check again.

This is exactly why I remind families to review every step—not simply the registration confirmation. One small technology requirement should not interfere with a carefully planned test date.

Volunteering should always be a part of what we do. 💛

This morning, I had the opportunity to volunteer at the SUS Tour, hosting the Southern Association for College Admission Counseling (SACAC) table alongside Rose Llanos, Ed.D. from Lynn University Admission University.

For me, being part of this field is not just about supporting my own students and families. It’s also about giving back, staying connected, and sharing resources with other professionals doing this work.

A little volunteering, a lot of great conversations, and a wonderful way to start the day. 🎓

UC Berkeley presenta Café con Admisiones, una nueva serie de Facebook Live creada para padres, tutores y familias que prefieren recibir información sobre el proceso universitario en español.

📅 4 sesiones en vivo | 17 de septiembre al 8 de octubre de 2026

Durante la serie, las familias podrán escuchar y hacer preguntas a personal de la universidad, estudiantes actuales y padres de estudiantes universitarios de primera generación sobre:

• Admisiones
• Ayuda financiera
• Recursos y vida universitaria
• La transición de escuela superior a la universidad

¿Por qué me gusta esta iniciativa? Porque el proceso universitario no debe depender de qué tan cómodo se sienta un padre hablando inglés. Cuando las familias reciben información en el idioma que prefieren, pueden participar, hacer preguntas y apoyar a sus estudiantes con mayor confianza. 💗
