Enjoying the Elk Grove Food Bank Volunteer Appreciation luncheon. The room was packed with many people that are willing to give their time in order to help those with food and basic need insecurities.

“Volunteers do not necessarily have the time; they just have the heart.” There couldn’t be truer words and it perfectly describes our clients and staff who are truly making a difference in the lives of others.

It’s always a treat to have Micah, the Comfort Dog, to program for a visit.

We had a wonderful evening receiving the Stars of Service Award from the City of Elk Grove. A big thank you to Kirsten Ireton for the nomination and Mayor Singh for the Award. We were very proud to see our clients and staff recognized for the incredible work they pour into VIM and the community every week. Congratulations to each of them — a well deserved acknowledgement!

It is great to see our community come together. Taryn was thrilled to collaborate with Cole on a window decoration/advertisement for Fly Braves' upcoming Flamingo 5K. For more information about their upcoming run, please visit Fly Braves' page.

Spring is in the air, and our talented artist Taryn brought it to life with a beautiful spring mural on our outdoor glass. She truly is amazing!

As we wrap up Aktion Club Week, we wanted to share a few of the final activities our members participated in!

This week we had the opportunity to read stories to students at Jessie Baker School, create safety activity kits for Assemblymember Stephanie Nguyen to distribute to children in the community, and connected with another Aktion Club for a karaoke session. We ended the week together with lunch at Sabor a Mexico.

It was a productive, meaningful, and fun-filled week for our members. We are so proud of the kindness, teamwork, and community spirit they showed all week long! 💙

Today we delivered warm senorita bread to a few amazing organizations that do so much for others. A huge thank you to:

We truly appreciate everything you do to support and care for our community. We’re grateful for the opportunity to say thank you in a small but heartfelt way! 💛

During Aktion Club Week, our group spent time at several parks around town picking up trash and doing our part to make these spaces cleaner and more enjoyable for everyone who visits. 🧹🌳

It was a great reminder for all of us that small acts of service can make a big difference. Let’s all do our part to care for our community by remembering to leave every place a little cleaner than we found it. 💚

We’ve received such wonderful feedback from them and we really appreciate the opportunity to work alongside them. We are learning a lot about how a shelter runs and how much work there is to do each day!
