I have high standards. I hold young people accountable. I don’t entertain excuses, and they know I’m not here for the mess.

So, when they still choose to lean on you… when they feel safe enough to cuddle up next to you after you’ve challenged them all day… that’s when you know you’ve earned something that can’t be demanded.

Discipline builds character, y’all.
Kids need it.
As a matter of fact I’d say they deserve it.
Consistency builds trusts.
And Love…well, that’s what makes all the lessons stick.❤️

We’re excited to welcome 11th grade students from Central High School and Renaissance High School through our new partnership with the National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence (NCADD).
These students won’t just be observing—they’ll be gaining real-world workforce experience by working alongside me and the Nursing Detroit team, seeing firsthand what it takes to build careers, serve the community, and lead in healthcare.
We’re grateful for the opportunity to support workforce development in a new and meaningful way. Every partnership like this creates another pathway for young people to discover their potential, build confidence, and prepare for the future.
This is how we strengthen our communities.

GDYT Season 9- Youth Summer Work Experience

Forty more minds to shape. Forty more lives to support. Forty more dreams to nurture. Forty more futures to influence.
This season is nonstop. Multiple programs. New partnerships. Endless moving pieces. But out of everything we do at Nursing Detroit, this is still my favorite.
Because at 16 years old, I get to catch them at the beginning. Before they doubt themselves. Before the world tells them what they can’t become. I get to put the stethoscope in their hands, teach them real clinical skills, expose them to healthcare professionals, and help them see themselves in the career they’ve been dreaming about.
That’s the work that changes lives. We don’t just teach healthcare skills—we build confidence, identity, purpose, and a vision for what’s possible.
Nobody is building Michigan’s healthcare workforce earlier, with more intention, or with greater impact than Nursing Detroit.

C-2 Pipeline Summer Camp (Week 1)

Every summer, the C2 Pipeline Summer Camps remind me why this work matters.

Over the course of camp, they don’t just learn healthcare skills—they discover confidence, teamwork, professionalism, and what’s possible for their future.

Thank you to the students for showing up with energy, to the families for trusting us, and to our partners for believing in the power of early career exposure.
