The residency is approved by the Residency Review Committee for Surgery of the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education. Upon completion of training, residen

ts are eligible for examination by the American Board of Surgery and Vascular Surgery. There has been an accredited Vascular Surgery fellowship program at the DMC/Wayne State University School of Medicine since 1990, although the program was established in the mid-1970’s. Graduates of the WSUSOM program have become recognized leaders of programs throughout the country. Our program integrates training at the Harper University Hospital, Detroit Receiving Hospital, Children’s Hospital of Michigan, St. Joseph Mercy Ann Arbor, and the Providence Healthcare System. This provides residents with a comprehensive exposure to a wide range of complex tertiary care patients and a community based experience, in institutions known for excellence in patient care and research. The Division of Vascular Surgery participates in a large number of national clinical trials. Fellows are expected to participate in academic activities through clinical studies and it is anticipated that papers will be presented at regional, national and international meetings and will lead to publication in peer reviewed journals.
