It has legit been fiftyleven years since I've posted or anything. I'm ready to tell my story - what the heck happened, what we're doing now, and what's coming in the (very near) future.

In terms of doing big, scary things, this move counts as one of them.

BUT, I can always try things out and if they don't work, change them. 🤷🏾‍♀️🤞🏾

Effective June 1st, I'm fine tuning my focus to singers who are consistent, willing, and ready to make quantum leaps in their vocal performance.

Some of the language may seem a bit scary, but I'm here to clarify:

📚🎵 A PORTFOLIO really is some sort of evidence of a body of work. This could be a performance resume, reel footage, studio recordings (singles, an EP, etc.), auditions approaching within a 90 day time span, performance in a showcase, musical, etc. coming up, etc. Really, singing doesn't have to be your ONLY job but it has to have a significant focus in your life.

⌛ I need folx that create time for themselves to do some independent exploration. Understandable that life be lifing, every day/week won't look the same. But consistency is key.

💸 This is an expensive career. It doesn't matter how you slice it.

Congrats are in order! My singer and fellow enthusiast Khara won the pr***en division competition in the Michigan Miss Amazing pageant this past weekend and will be advancing to the national competition representing Michigan in Chicago this July.

Miss Amazing is a national self-esteem movement for girls and women with disabilities.

Khara’s talent? Nothing other than singing AND playing the violin. 😮‍💨

Her assigned buddy is also featured in the photo.

What a time to be a QUEEN! 👸🏾Congrats Khara!

I can't be the only person who has something to say about this.

Of course, there are so many people out there who have overdosed on audacity, and think their opinion counts.

But, when you come for coaching with me (and with many others), we truly have your best interest at heart. When my clients come to me for coaching, I do my absolute best to listen to them, meet them where they are vocally, and then BENDING them as much as I can without breaking them.

Feedback is crucial to this process. Understand that for many of us, we want you to sing beyond well; we want this process to invigorate your human as much as possible. Your attitude very much so determines your altitude in this career. So consider:

Are you listening when I tell you that song that you love singing isn't the best fit for an audition?

Do you understand when I tell you that's the right song in the wrong key?

Do you hear me when I say you're nobody's alto but everybody's soprano and it will keep getting easier as we work to readjust your vocal center?

Do you know that I know as soon as you open your mouth that you've not sung since we last met? (No judgment lol.)

Consider how you accept your feedback.

Are you receptive or rejective?

March 23 – Southeast Michigan Virtual Pitch Competition

March 30 – Statewide Food Competition – This competition is in person at Lawrence Technological University in Southfield, MI. Tickets to attend are $10 and include samples from the finalists.

Big congratulations are in order!

Yesterday I won 3rd place in the WomanUp & Pitch Competition, with a nice purse of $2,500.

That was my second time doing a business pitch in my entire life and it was TONS of work 😮‍💨, hard, but FUN. I actually can't wait to do it again!

The other big win is that it forced me to get my business plan together! That's a story for another day! 😂
