Let’s celebrate Yahya Muhammad on his first year at Swift! 🎉

Thanks to Detroit Employment Solutions Corp and the Skills for Life program, Yahya is now thriving in his trucking career and enjoying life on the open road.

While working as an Environmental Technician with Skills for Life, Yahya discovered Detroit Training Center and decided to pursue his CDL A at just 20 years old, determined to build his own future in trucking.

He shared, "I want to have at least 50 years in the trucking industry, and to eventually own my own company."

Yahya’s dedication in the classroom and enthusiasm behind the wheel stood out. "I really liked doing maneuvers in the yard. Driving trucks is something I've wanted to do as a kid."

His advice for new students: "You got it. It's easier to learn than you'd think."

Reginald Knuckles has big dreams of being a business owner with a fleet of tow trucks. By graduating from Detroit Training Center, he took his first step!

"I wanted to come here for a long time, since I was 18. Funding was an issue. One day, I came to orientation and WayneLINC was available, so thank you, WayneLINC," said Reginald.

"I have offers from Swift and Dawn Foods. I'm trying to decide what would be best now."

"My favorite part was the classroom. We did a lot of projects as a team, and it was cool to see how it all applied once we got to the road."

When asked what he'd tell incoming students, Reginald had this advice: "Try and get all your endorsements and stay down like an anchor."

Javon Daniels is a Detroiter born and raised who came to school through Michigan Works. Help him celebrate his graduation from our CDL program by congratulating him in the comments.

"I like the classroom and the driving," said Javon. "We did learning games to remember the pre-trip."

"I'm in the hiring process with a cement company. I want to own my own trucking business one day, but right now I'm still learning."

Javon had this to say about his time at Detroit Training Center. "I had a great it experience, but I always had to keep pushing. Just keep pushing."
