Thanks to Detroit Employment Solutions Corp and the Skills for Life program, Yahya is now thriving in his trucking career and enjoying life on the open road.

While working as an Environmental Technician with Skills for Life, Yahya discovered Detroit Training Center and decided to pursue his CDL A at just 20 years old, determined to build his own future in trucking.

He shared, "I want to have at least 50 years in the trucking industry, and to eventually own my own company."

Yahya’s dedication in the classroom and enthusiasm behind the wheel stood out. "I really liked doing maneuvers in the yard. Driving trucks is something I've wanted to do as a kid."

His advice for new students: "You got it. It's easier to learn than you'd think."

"I like the classroom and the driving," said Javon. "We did learning games to remember the pre-trip."

"I'm in the hiring process with a cement company. I want to own my own trucking business one day, but right now I'm still learning."
