This fireside chat with Dr. Tubbs and Donna Givens-Davidson will widen the lens of the 2026 WSU MLK Tribute that focused on Coretta Scott King, Betty Shabazz and Merlie Evers-Williams, the widows of Martin Luther King, Jr., Malcolm X and Medgar Evers.

From passion in the classroom to leadership in the community, alumni Tonya Norwood '16 and Treyvon Harlin '25 are committed to their students and families, and their legacy is worth celebrating.

Norwood and Harlin first met in high school and reconnected again at Wayne State. Between those bookends is a Detroit story of mentorship, momentum, and multigenerational impact.
