So grateful to be featured in this work. 💛
At the International Language Academy of Detroit, we’ve always believed that the environment is the foundation for learning—not an afterthought. Seeing this recognized on a larger level means everything, especially for our children and families right here in Detroit.
This is bigger than a classroom—it’s about investing in our community and creating spaces where children can truly thrive.
Thank you to IFF and First Children’s Finance for highlighting this important work.
What if improving child care quality started with the room itself?
In Detroit, providers like those at the International Language Academy of Detroit are part of a growing national shift—treating early learning environments as essential infrastructure, not an afterthought, through initiatives led by IFF and First Children's Finance.
See how this model is helping small, local providers make sustainable changes that could reshape early childhood spaces across the country. ⬇️

✨ Early Literacy in Action ✨
Our little learners are building strong foundations one letter at a time! During circle time, the class gathered together to explore Plant & Grow, a board book introducing children to the world of farming.
Through this engaging story, students were able to connect early literacy skills with real-world concepts - learning how plants grow, where food comes from, and the importance of caring for our environment. 🌱
Moments like these help children connect words with images, ideas, and experiences - an essential step in developing early reading skills. From practicing focus and listening to sparking curiosity about the world around them, every story time is an opportunity to grow.
We love seeing their curiosity come to life as they follow along, observe, and begin making those important connections that lead to confident, thoughtful learners. 📚💫

There’s something so special about early childhood reading—the giggles, the curiosity, and the quiet moments of connection. 💛
Today, we enjoyed Bunny, Bunny, Peekaboo, a playful and engaging story that invites little ones to interact, anticipate, and explore. Books like this help build early language skills, encourage imagination, and create a love for reading from the very beginning.
It’s not just about the story—it’s about the bonding, the expressions, and the joy of discovering something new together.

This week we learned about Garrett Morgan, the brilliant inventor who improved and patented the traffic light system we still rely on today. 🚦
To honor his contribution during Black History Month, we created our own traffic light-inspired art. Using red, yellow, and green paper on bold black backgrounds, the children explored colors, patterns, and creativity while connecting it back to Morgan’s invention.
It’s always powerful to show little minds that inventors come from all backgrounds — and that their ideas can change the world. 💛💚❤️

Today our friends explored the letter M through a fun, hands-on activity—crafting a moon! As they create, they’re building letter recognition, fine motor skills, and early literacy all at once. Activities like this help make learning meaningful, memorable, and fun.
We love seeing our friends connect letters to real words while expressing their creativity 💛

Hands-on learning makes all the difference — especially when it’s this much fun! 🌈✨
Today our little learners practiced picking up colorful pom-poms with clothespins, a simple activity with BIG benefits.
By squeezing, pinching, and sorting different textures, children strengthen their fine motor skills, hand muscles, and coordination — all foundational for writing, cutting, and everyday independence. The soft pom-poms and firm clothespins also introduce new tactile experiences, helping kids explore how different materials feel and respond to touch.
And of course, practicing together encourages teamwork, patience, turn-taking, and joyful communication. 💛
Learning through play builds confident hands and confident hearts — one pom-pom at a time. 🌟 2:2

Today’s arts and crafts fun was all about the letter R! ✨
Our little learners explored the shape of the letter, practiced tracing with their hands, and created their own “R” masterpieces. It’s amazing watching them build early literacy skills through play, creativity, and curiosity.
R is for ready to learn, reach, and remembering that every small moment adds up. 💙📘
