Hey friends!! We are still far from our goal on GoFundMe. We appreciate anything you can do to help, whether that’s donating or passing it along to friends. To everyone who has donated and shared already - thank you!!! We are so thankful for everyone’s support and we cannot wait to host events this season at our new pavilion, in the midst of gorgeous flowers and lots of lavender.

We will soon stop posting on this page. We changed the name our farm from Vedic Village Educational Gardens - to The Garden Detroit about a year ago! Facebook rules do not allow a group to make a name change. We started the new page and have been maintaining both pages. So if you see an invitation to join The Garden Detroit page please say YES!
Thank you from Tom Milano and Nancy Weigandt

Here are some photos from our 3rd annual Harvest Festival. The Garden was beautiful, the food delicious and the weather perfect. Thanks to the many visitors who made this possible.

CSA 2015 The Garden Week #16, 9 23 15
Description
09/12/2015
We're having our third annual The Garden Detroit Harvest Festival on the 20th from noon till 5pm. We're looking for musicians who may like to place for donations. Any saxophone players or guitarists out there? We're expecting around 120-150 generous people to attend and the street musician who was going to play that day, all of a sudden can't make it.

Monarch Update! Number 3 emerged this morning. The chrysalis is a light green until about 12 hours before emergence. It then turns darker and darker and you can start to see the orange monarch wing. The following pictures show the chrysalis minutes before the monarch started to emerge. The second picture is within a minute after emergence. Its been a tough day for this baby as it is too cold for flight. We are hoping he survives.

We woke up to a miracle today! A monarch emerged from one of the 3 chrysalis's we brought home from The Garden. We brought them home to protect them from any of the natural dangers they face in the chrysalis form. This particular one was found last Saturday by the volunteers from the Shrine Royal Oak. It was hanging under a black cherry tomato! After it emerged it landed on Tom's hat. It's currently enjoying the sun on our porch. It needs at least 80 degrees before it will be able to fly and procure nectar, become strong and eventually fly to Mexico!
