Sustainability is one of the most important things in modern design, and there is no better way to learn how to better incorporate it into the design process than seeing where products go at the end of their use cycle. Students in Professor John Kaloustian’s Materials & Processes class toured of the GFL Recycling center in Pontiac, Michigan and learned about different design considerations they can incorporate into their work promote sustainability through recycling. After their tour, students were treated to some donuts at Avon Bakery near the facility🍩.

In October The Michigan Science Center hosted the Motor City Game Changers event in partnership with the Smithsonian. The CCS Product Design department is proud to have hosted numerous live activites, where CCS students helped middle and elementary students design their own shoes, explore Gravity Sketch in VR, and learn about careers and opportunities in design!
