The following is from our Class of 1970 graduate Katie Kerwin:

— with Rita Woods.I mentioned to a fellow Gesu alum that I'd had the pleasure of interviewing Rita Woods about her new book, Remembrance, for the Gesu School Alumni Newsletter. My friends hadn't seen it, and mindful that other friends and classmates also might not be on the newsletter mailing list, I'm attaching a link to the extended version of the interview. (Space in the print issue was too short for all the fun stuff—the chickens! the bodybuilding!—let along talking about the book and the book tour, so Anita Sevier graciously offered to run a longer story on the newsletter website.) It's here: https://www.gesuschool.udmercy.edu/alumni-newslettersThanks, Rita, for making the time to talk to me and answer follow-up questions. Also, the semi-annual Gesu alum newsletter is always on the lookout for interesting stories about alums for future issues. If you know someone who's written a book or done something else noteworthy that might interest former classmates, drop me a line via Facebook Messenger.

I just received this email from Robert Scullin, S.J. and I thought I would pass this information along:

Dear Gesu-ites,

Hope this finds you well! We are planning a Reverse Raffle / Silent Auction Fun-Raiser for next November 15 at the Detroit Yacht Club.

We need your help in selling the 200 tickets (@ $100 each) to other alumns.
With this e-mail, I am inviting you to a brief meeting (no more than an hour) at Gesu on either May 28, 30, or 31. I will send you a doodle poll for you to indicate when you could attend this brief information meeting. When you respond to the poll by e-mail, please choose as many of the three dates that you can!

Thanks for all you have done for Gesu and all you will do as we build a future full of hope!

Robert Scullin, S.J.

P.S.

Here is the website to visit to indicate the days and times you could make a brief meeting to learn how you can help with our Reverse Raffle / Silent Auction.

Respond to this post if you would be interested in a 2015 shared reunion?
Should we send a survey to see if people would be willing to help and what kind of activities they might like to do on a weekend event.

Hello Fellow Graduates,

Last night I returned home from the 90th Celebration of Gesu School. Great time seeing classmates from many years. After attending this event it dawned on a few of us that classmates from multiple years are always a part of hearts as well.

In 2015, the class of 1970, will mark the 45th anniversary of our graduation from Gesu School in Detroit. We could share this event with our classmates (sisters and brothers) from the classes of 1960 ~ 1970, making it a weekend event to remember.

This could give classmates a series of events.
Much like a smorgasbord instead of snapshot.

Stay tuned for survey of possible activities.
Hope to see you all soon ! ~Kim

Doesn't it seem like those of us who were born in '56 and are turning 56 have a special birthday this year? Just sayin'.
