Wayne State's Center for Behavioral Health and Justice, Michigan Center for Youth Justice and The Delta Project have teamed to create community-based alternatives to youth incarceration. Through Igniting Futures: A Youth Justice Grant (Public Welfare Foundation), we're helping our youth thrive.

WSU study zeroes in on stress in effort to boost Black heart health 05/26/2026

"The Silent Killer," otherwise known as high blood pressure, is a gateway to severe cardiovascular risks, including stroke, heart attack and premature death.

Heart disease remains the leading cause of death for Americans, and this impact is felt significantly in Black communities, where diagnoses spiked in recent years. Wayne State researchers are studying the direct link between daily stress and heart health to reduce the nation's health disparity.

WSU study zeroes in on stress in effort to boost Black heart health Stress is a far less studied cause of heart disease than diabetes and high cholesterol and too often dismissed as a reality of daily life. The WSU study hopes to correct that.
