Back when Al Abrams staged a fan protest demanding that Motown release Tommy’s album, and he sang on the front porch of Hitsville USA. You can see Berry Gordy looking out into the crowd in this photo! Today Tommy will return to the legendary building on West Grand Boulevard to sing for his fans once again (and yes I believe they have the giant Tommy Good head print up 😂😂🎵🎵). See you at 3pm!

I can understand people still wanting to support Kanye West despite his recent statements. However, I think we can’t ignore that there is a contingency out there that will just now want to support him BECAUSE of those statements.

People are complex. We should be able to simultaneously applaud initiative, creativity and entrepreneurship while also acknowledging that blaming any one entire demographic of people for woes of the world paves the way for far more bigoted and dangerous actors to follow.

"Yesterday's Dreams," "Why When Love Is Gone," "Loving You Is Sweeter Than Ever," "Ask The Lonely," "Truly Yours," "All For You," "My Baby Loves Me," "Seek And You Shall Find," "Behind A Painted Smile," "Sweet Understanding Love," "Don't Stop Loving Me," "Determination," "I Can Feel The Pain," and of course "Dancing In The Street." This man is responsible for so much of my favorite music stretching back to before I can even remember seeking out music for myself. Thankful to have gotten to spend even a small amount of time with him thanks to the Motown Museum's Motown 60 Weekend, Detroit A-Go-Go, and the Showtime Motown documentary. What a wonderful, warm, welcoming man and obviously an incredible singer and songwriter. My condolences to the family and friends of Mr. Ivy Hunter, and thank you to Ivy for sharing your art with the world. RIP Mr. Hunter and thank you for all you have done, and all your music will continue to do!

I'm grateful that David Garibaldi has put up with me being a shameless fan since I was in middle school. His clearly demonstrated love for education is one of the reasons I actively wanted to be a teacher just as much as a performer. I was able to introduce him to Lindsay last night and say thanks for helping me stay sane throughout the pandemic with his zoom workshops and classes! He's a wonderful testament to practice, diligence, and stick-to-it-iveness (drumming pun intended). Also make sure to check out his podcast StickPeople!
