Our mission is to empower all scholars to develop the strength of character, skills, and knowledge needed to matriculate, be great in, and graduate from college so that they have opportunities to be successful in the competitive world and take care of themselves and the people that they love. Focused on a 9-16 model, our College Success Team works ceaselessly with current scholars and alumni to pr

ovide college counseling and support to not only make sure they graduate from high school, but college as well – outcomes that are real game changers in urban education. US News recently ranked JRLA among the top open enrollment high schools in Detroit based on college readiness levels, math and reading proficiency and college curriculum. In addition, JRLA currently ranks first for open enrollment high schools in the City of Detroit for college matriculation and is continually improving on college persistence.

For 15 years, Jalen Rose Leadership Academy has transformed the lives of high school scholars across Detroit. Now, we are expanding our impact with the projected launch of our middle school in the 2027–2028 school year, beginning with fifth grade.

This next chapter will allow us to begin developing our future leaders even earlier while continuing to raise the standard for education in Detroit.

🚨All scholars will be dismissed at 12:30 PM today.

While we were initially confident in our ability to maintain safe temperatures inside the building, the current temperature, heat index, and high humidity have become a growing concern.

PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING:
⭐️ Scholars will receive a lunch to take home.
⭐️ Scholars who cannot be picked up early may remain safely inside the school until their normal dismissal time.
⭐️ Water and Gatorade stations will be available both inside and outside the building.
⭐️ Because today is Wednesday, this early dismissal will coincide with our Forgotten Harvest food distribution. Scholars will be dismissed through the west entrance on Trojan Street, where registration and orientation took place.

🚙To help us minimize traffic congestion, families picking up scholars should drive past the main entrance and the Forgotten Harvest distribution line and proceed directly to the west entrance on Trojan Street.

If your child takes public transportation, rides a bicycle, or walks home, please support us by encouraging them to go directly home and remain indoors until temperatures decrease.

Now it’s WEEK 2 AT JRLA and we’re keeping that same momentum going. Show up. Stay focused. Work hard. Lead by example.

Last week, JRLA averaged 96.2% attendance, with every grade level averaging above 94%!

Even more exciting, 376 Jaguars achieved PERFECT ATTENDANCE during Week One. 🤩👏🏾 That’s 82% of our student body showing up every single day!

This is how we set the standard. Being present matters. Every class matters. Every day matters.

From renewed spaces and humble beginnings to the legacy we’re building today. Every hallway, every seat, every scholar and every lesson helped shape the JRLA story.
