On the behalf of the “Detroit HBCU Honors” Committee, I’m excited to announce that your fellow Hornet, Latoya King was selected as the winner of our inaugural “Chapter President of the Year” Award by the Detroit HBCU Network. Your chapter is also the winner of the inaugural “Chapter of the Year”.
As President of the Detroit HBCU Network I have witnessed Alabama State University Detroit Alumni Chapter’s work on the behalf of our organization and your alma mater. Your President and Chapter are more than deserving of this honor.
Detroit HBCU Honors will be held at Pensole Lewis College, located in the Icon Building at 200 Walker St, Detroit, MI 48207, from 3-7pm. Recognition of honoree will take place at 3:30pm.

The Historically Black College and University Scholarship Gala: History Is Legacy inaugural event takes place in Detroit, on Friday, November 18, 2022 at the Doubletree by Hilton Hotel Detroit-Dearborn, located at 5801 Southfield Fwy. in Detroit (MI 48228) from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
The event is intended to strengthen support, increase HBCU enrollment, and acknowledge the accomplishments of HBCU alums. It serves to demonstrate the importance of HBCU institutions to our collective future.
Part of the proceeds for the Scholarship Gala will be donated back to your local HBCU Alumni Chapter.
