Seventeen seminarians from Sacred Heart Major Seminary are preparing for ordination to the priesthood this spring and summer, answering God’s call to serve His Church.

As they reflect on their years of formation, the men shared the ways God has prepared them for priestly ministry through prayer, fraternity, service, and life at Sacred Heart.
“The love and praise we all gave to Jesus in the Eucharist has always left an impression on me,” shared Deacon Brandon Elias of the Chaldean Eparchy of St. Thomas the Apostle.

Did you know?

First-year graduate seminarians at Sacred Heart Major Seminary take part in a month-long pilgrimage as part of their formation. It is a time set apart for deeper prayer, conversion, and growth in their relationship with Christ.

This year, some of our seminarians are traveling through Portugal, Spain, France, and Italy and sharing their journey along the way. Sacred Heart Major Seminary celebrated 88 graduates on May 2, marking the close of the 2025–26 academic year.

This year’s class included six Licentiates in Sacred Theology and 15 Baccalaureates in Sacred Theology, earned in partnership with the Pontifical University of St. Thomas Aquinas in Rome.

At the Baccalaureate Mass, Fr. Stephen Burr reflected on the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the mission of each graduate. “The beating heart of Jesus provides a rhythm to conduct our study and work and to be sent on mission as His own.”

The Archbishop’s Gala returns on June 4 at Saint John’s Resort!

This year’s event is especially meaningful as it returns to the former site of Saint John’s Provincial Seminary, connecting Sacred Heart Major Seminary’s mission today with its rich history of formation.

With the theme “Sacred Heart, Sacred Mission: Forming Shepherds for the Good News,” the evening will celebrate the ongoing work of forming priests and lay leaders serving the Church in the Archdiocese of Detroit and beyond.
