Today we left Belle Isle feeling a lot more prepared to address a medical emergency thanks to David Baskin, MD, and the Henry Ford Hospital for putting on a first aid training session for our instructors and some of our students. Under the guidance of a number of physicians and EMS technicians, we got hands-on experience on how to treat a drowning child, remove an embedded fish hook, how to properly apply a splint, and even a tourniquet. David, one of our Adult Learn to Sail instructors, deserves a big thank you.

Kent Colpaert and the Detroit Charter Company made it a very special day for our Challenge the Wind youth sailors and instructors aboard the Santa Cruz 70 Hydra. Many of them marveled at the size of the sheets and blocks compared to their Optis and Club420s. Thanks, Kent and Briana Burke.
