Central Michigan University Alumna Chloe White ( a FMD - Fashion Merchandising & Design at Central Michigan University graduate ) has the students fired up on Day 2 of the A Beautiful Me program.

During this weeklong initiative, Central Michigan University Detroit Office — in partnership with A Beautiful Me and the CMU Charters — is hosting a transformational Summer Intensive for exiting 5th grade girls, culminating in a visit to our Mt. Pleasant campus. Throughout the program, CMU alumnae guest presenters are joining Karen Palka and her team to pour into the next generation of strong, confident young women.

Governor names CMU Detroit Outreach leader to state council Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer has reappointed Rhonda Welsh, executive director for Detroit Outreach at CMU, to the Michigan Arts and Culture Council.

Kudos to Pembroke Academy for being recognized as a 2024 National Blue Ribbon school! Yesterday CMU Detroit Executive Director Rhonda Welsh provided congratulatory remarks during the celebration ceremony.

Led by Principal Salwa Kinsey and Board Chair and CMU Alumna Contessa Rudolph, this NW Detroit based school is chartered by the Central Michigan University John Engler Center for Charter Schools.

Today, the Central Michigan University Detroit Office was the host site for the Faith & Blue Breakfast in partnership with the Detroit Police Department and Downtown Detroit Partnership. During this week there are similar events throughout the nation.

The Faith & Blue idea is a simple but powerful one — the ties that bind officers and residents must be reinforced if we are to build neighborhoods where everyone feels safe and included. One of the leaders of this effort at DPD is CMU Alum and Commander Michael Cadotte. Monica Edmonds and Brianna Morris were other community based alums in attendance.

As always, we appreciate Eric Larsen, Gina Cavaliere and the rest of the DPD Team for always being at the forefront of such great work in downtown Detroit.

The CMU Alumni and Friends Detroit Jazz Festival Preview is always such a fun event!

This year there were will be music, fun, wine, food, CMU student performances and back by popular demand -- lamb chops and peach cobbler!

Detroit Jazz Preview Festival Volunteer Opportunity

This globally renowned festival celebrates the art of jazz, offering a platform for musicians to showcase their talents and providing attendees with a rich cultural experience.

Your volunteerism here promotes the arts and amplifies CMU’s presence in Detroit. We are looking for individuals to volunteer as greeters, help with set up, work the registration tables and perform general duties on August 29th.

Tonight, nearly 100 Central Michigan University Alumni and friends visited the Central Michigan University Detroit Office. Presented by the CMU Black Alumni Group, this event allowed all CMU alums access to a welcoming space for camaraderie, food and fun during Day 2 of the 2024 NFL Draft.
