First-generation students often face unique challenges on their path to a degree. “First gen students need extra care… if you are a first gen, this means that you’re on your own. So we, as a university and as a college have to replace the extra support at home and offer it here for the students,” says Dean Ahmed Rawan.

On May 1, we proudly hosted our 2nd Annual College of Health Professions Recognition Ceremony—a heartfelt evening celebrating alumni, faculty, and staff who embody excellence, compassion, and innovation.

We were honored to welcome guest speaker Chris Riopelle, Co-Founder and CEO of Strive Health and Detroit Mercy alum (MBA, Juris Doctor, 1993), whose remarks inspired all in attendance.

We also proudly recognized the Class of 1975–1976 in celebration of their Jubilee, with several alumni returning to mark this special milestone.

CHP Student Engagement Taskforce joins Nurse T to improve nursing education and awareness in the community. Our current Detroit Mercy SRNAs and MEAGN program alumni are working diligently to educate children in Detroit. We thank them for their hard work and dedication!
