At Adams-Young Middle School, students put compassion, leadership, and teamwork into action. As part of the school’s daily Social Emotional Learning program, “Crew,” students spent the week exploring the theme “Protect Our Planet & Be the Hero.”

From beautification efforts and recycling drives to donation collections, awareness campaigns, and acts of kindness, students transformed ideas into action.

We're proud of the leadership, teamwork, and service our students demonstrated as they worked to make a positive difference in the world around them.

Sometimes the greatest gifts are the ones that bring comfort and hope.

Recently, four Washington-Parks Academy families received an incredible surprise when Good Neighbor Day America delivered new furniture to their homes. These gifts provided more than couches, dressers, and dining tables - they helped create welcoming spaces where children can learn, grow, and thrive.

One parent shared that the support arrived at exactly the right time after months of balancing work, school, and the daily responsibilities of caring for a family.

Thank you to Good Neighbor Day America for reminding our families that they are seen, valued, and supported by a caring community.

What do you want to be when you grow up?

Madison-Carver Academy's Partner Career Week recently helped students discover some of the options. With professionals from banking, law, insurance, communications, public safety, media, and more, they helped show what's possible.

A huge thank you to the many professionals and organizations who invested their time and talents in our students. Together, we're helping young people envision bright futures and discover new possibilities.

This beauty caught our eye today and reminded us how grateful we are for The Greening of Detroit.

Last spring, more than 300 volunteers joined forces to plant 200 trees across the Lincoln-King High School and Adams-Young Elementary School campuses - as well as the entire Grove Street community and surrounding neighborhood - bringing shade, beauty, and cleaner air to the communities we serve.

The benefits of this initiative will last for generations, supporting student wellness and strengthening the neighborhoods that surround our schools. We’re proud to be part of this collaborative effort to build a healthier, more sustainable Detroit - one tree at a time.

It's National Nurses Day and we're celebrating the caring hearts and steady hands of our incredible nurses who make a difference in the lives of our students every single day.

Whether they’re providing comfort, care, encouragement, or a calm presence during difficult moments, Nurses Curry and Adams go far beyond treating bumps and bruises. They help keep our students healthy, safe, and ready to learn — while showing compassion to every child who walks through their doors.

Thank you for the countless ways you support our school community. We are grateful for your dedication, kindness, and commitment to our students and families every day. 🩺✨

That “vicious” one-handed dunk by Jamal Cain against the Detroit Pistons on Monday night? We’ve seen that before.

Long before the bright lights of the NBA and his role with the Orlando Magic, Cain was electrifying crowds right here at Cornerstone. From 2014–2017, he helped put Cornerstone’s basketball program on the map, establishing himself as a school legend and setting the foundation for the program’s success.

At the time, he was a nationally ranked player and a finalist for Michigan’s Mr. Basketball Award, telling MLive: “It’s very special knowing that I can go down in Cornerstone history, with the first dunk or the most points or the first block and things like that. It was a great feeling knowing I was the first one to do something here.”

Now, as his game earns national attention, it’s no surprise to those who watched him rise.

Congratulations, Jamal, we’re proud to be part of your story!

A beautiful tradition and a milestone moment. ✨

Lincoln-King High School recently celebrated its Senior Pinning Ceremony—an evening where students were honored for their hard work, growth, and perseverance on the path to graduation. Surrounded by family, each senior was “pinned” as a symbol of stepping into adulthood, sharing heartfelt words of gratitude and commitment for what lies ahead.

Nominated by their teachers, students were recognized for accomplishments including strong attendance, honor roll distinction, and individual character awards that reflect the impact they’ve made within the school community.

We can't wait for graduation! 🎓💚
