🚍 We’re Hiring: Transportation Specialist! 🚍

Do you have a passion for working with youth and a commitment to safety? Join the SAY Detroit Play Center team as a Transportation Specialist!

In this role, you’ll help ensure children arrive safely to and from our after-school program while creating a positive and supportive environment during every ride. We’re looking for someone with excellent driving skills, strong communication abilities, and a dedication to keeping our youth safe.

✅ Valid Michigan Driver’s License required
✅ Safe driving record required
✅ Experience working with children preferred
✅ Monday–Friday schedule (1:30 PM – 7:30 PM)

As we head into the summer season, we wanted to share our updated hours for the SAY Play Resource Hub:

Summer Schedule:
Monday–Thursday: 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM
Friday: Closed
Saturday: Closed
Sunday: 9:30 AM – 12:00 PM

This weeks student spotlight is: Tyjuan! 🌟

May through the first week of June brings another round of fresh, thoughtfully prepared meals by Chef Dave and Sous Chef Dominique. From start to finish, our team is dedicated to serving wholesome, nourishing food Monday through Friday — creating moments of comfort, care, and community around every table.

This past weekend, our SAY young inventors wrapped up an incredible journey at Invention Convention — and out of 5,000 student participants, TWO of our teams advanced to the State Finals! 👏🏾💡

🔹 Braylon & Garrick presented “Crispy View” — an AI-powered device designed to scan and track items in your fridge to help prevent food expiration and reduce waste.

🔹 Zhaniya Smith presented “Shift-Six” — a screen-time limiting device created to reduce phone distraction and encourage healthier habits.

We are beyond proud of these innovators for their creativity, problem-solving, and confidence throughout the judging process. The future is being built right here in our makerspace. 💙⚙️
