It is of great sadness to post that we lost a great coach. Coach Anthony Garcia has passed. Coach Garcia was loved by everyone who met him, he was a great mentor, friend but more importantly he was a fighter for the youth of Detroit. Coach Garcia dedicated himself for over 2 decades to the Detroit Hockey Association and the youth of Detroit at Jack Adams. Mr. Garcia was also very involved in other community causes and was a great role model for Detroit Youth. Please keep his family in your prayers.

It was rare to see black hockey players in the 1950s, especially in rural Ontario. Unless you were in Mount Forest. Three black men were recruited to join the small-town Redmen team, where the trio dazzled packed arenas.
