We are so proud of our Dean Jocelyn Boryczka !✨
During her recent trip as part of the Ignatian Colleagues Program, Dean Boryczka had the opportunity to speak at UCA El Salvador and connect with Jesuit educators from across the United States and beyond.
The visit focused on strengthening partnerships and exploring opportunities for collaboration while advancing the Jesuit mission of integrating spirituality, education, and service into academic life.
We are proud to see CHASS represented on an international stage and grateful for Dean Boryczka's leadership in fostering meaningful connections across the global Jesuit community. 🌎💙

Congratulations to Prof. Roy Finkenbine, recipient of the 2026 Magis Faculty Recognition Award in CHASS! 🎉
This award recognizes a full-time faculty member who exemplifies the Jesuit ideal of the magis — striving for "the more" through excellence, service and transformational leadership.
Prof. Finkenbine was recognized for his outstanding teaching, research and service, as well as his commitment to radical transformation through the creation of the Black Abolitionist Archives, his leadership of the Department of History and African American Studies Program, and his service as Assistant Dean.
To honor his extraordinary legacy, the Dr. Roy E. Finkenbine History Scholarship, an endowed scholarship for history majors has been established. The goal is to raise more than $25,000 to support future students pursuing the study of history with the same curiosity, passion and purpose that Prof. Finkenbine has inspired in generations of students.
Congratulations on this well-deserved recognition and lasting legacy! 👏📚
