The school employs a culturally diverse staff of dedicated professionals who have made a commitment to help rebuild people. The school has demonstrated effectiveness and excellence for over thirty years in working with disadvantaged persons and hard to serve participants. The school was accredited in August 1978 by the Accrediting Council of Independent Colleges and Schools, Washington, D.C., to offer business education to individuals seeking employment in an office setting, and remained accredited through August, 1997. The school now offers remedial education, GED Preparation, Job Readiness and Job Search, which includes personal development classes. The school has a track record in providing placement, counseling and training. In 1983, the School was granted its 501c(3) tax-exempt status as a non-profit entity. Annually, the school host its Door Opener event to salute outstanding door openers to acquaint, as well as, garner the support of the business industry with its goals and missions, and more importantly, to raise funds to assist with emergency needs of its customers, supplement funds for the daily operation of the school and unforeseen expenses. Since 1996-97, Payne-Pulliam has served as a Michigan Work! Affiliate, partnering with the city of Detroit Employment and Training Department. We join forces with the many partnerships and collaborations across Metropolitan Detroit that have been developed to reduce the cost of delivering quality services to participants in need of employment and training. In 2012, Payne-Pulliam began partnering with Detroit Employment Solutions Corporation, Inc., a non-profit contracted by the City of Detroit to handle Workforce Development Programs, contracted to provide to the State of Michigan – PATH Programs for residents of the east side of Detroit, District 5.

2016, Payne-Pulliam returned to provided Summer Youth Programs, participating as a provider to the Grow Detroit Youth Talent (GDYT) Summer Youth Programs. The school provides quality training and work experience to youth ages 14-24. Our board members are: Betty Pulliam, Freddie Lindsay-Payne, Trudy Matthews, Kenneth Pulliam, Vanessa Pulliam, and Ronnelle Payne. Payne-Pulliam School is now considered a historic building and a business that has stood proud in the downtown area of the city of Detroit for over three decades.
