A wonderful night cheering on a group of Norup band students as they took to the Orchestra Hall stage for DSO Middle School Honor Days! 🎶

Last night, 3 Norup band students performed on the prestigious Orchestra Hall stage as part of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra Middle School honor days event. It was a wonderful concert and a thrill to see our students shining in this venue! We will have a handful more students participating on one of the upcoming dates as well, in two more weeks.

Last night was AWESOME seeing the BHS marching band shine on center court as part of the Pistons pregame. This was a great example of all the places music can take you when you stick with it. Bravo to Mr. Thomann and all of the students! 🏀🎶

It was smiles all around last night, at Middle School Night with the BHS marching band! Always one of the best nights of the year.

7/8th grade band members who will be attending next week's Middle School Night with the BHS Marching band need to complete their registration by tomorrow (Friday) to ensure they are included in the tshirt and pizza counts. ICYMI: Berkley School District is proud to announce it is a 2025 Best Community for Music Education, for the 14th year in a row! This national designation comes from the NAMM (National Association of Music Merchants) Foundation, for demonstrating outstanding achievement in efforts to provide music access and education to all students.

Berkley is one of 21 school districts in the state of Michigan to receive the Best Communities for Music Education award, one of 935 nationwide, and has been an award recipient since 2012.

In its 26th year, the Best Communities for Music Education (BCME) survey requires districts to answer detailed questions about funding, graduation requirements, music class participation, instruction time, facilities, support for the music program and community music-making programs. Responses were verified with school officials and reviewed by The Music Research Institute at the University of Kansas.

Sir András Schiff has just won the Music category at the Praemium Imperiale, awarded by the Japan Art Association. 🏆

Renowned for his interpretations of Bach, Mozart, and Beethoven, the Hungarian-born pianist and conductor is admired for his thoughtful musicianship and work with ensembles such as Ca****la Andrea Barca and the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment.
