Happy Veteran’s Day to all of those who made sacrifices and served our country. Today we honor all veterans, but these 3 stand out and have a special place in my heart. My first grandfather served in the Navy during the Second World War, my other grandfather served in the 1960s (locations and service dates are unknown to me), and my Uncle Mike — also the coolest guy I know — served in Vietnam. ❤️🤍

Last week one of my students asked me why I haven’t posted my ootds lately. Sorry girly pop, I’ve been slaying in silence and didn’t know I had people waiting for me to pop off! 🤭👩🏻🏫

8 days of teacher fits for the first 8 days of school 👩🏻🏫 Just like last year, I had to throw the Outkast instrumental on here! And don’t worry, these were all take at 6:45am before any students arrived 😂

Day two is done! All good vibes and lots of fun during today’s activities.
For 8th grade today we did a “Choose 3.” Students bring random objects to class to work in groups. With each prompt they pick three items to “complete the task” in each prompt and come up with a wild back story! It was so such a hit even though I had to tell a student they couldn’t use their dirty, sweaty sock that they found in their book bag as one of their items!! 😂

Went to visit family in Michigan and took a 6.5 hour road trip with my dad and my sister! Drove through Pennsylvania, (skibidi) Ohio, and Michigan. I haven’t taken this drive since I was 10!!

While in Michigan I visited family but also went to the Motown Museum, The Holocaust Museum, the Michigan War Dog Memorial, University of Michigan, Wing Stop, Panda Express, and Waffle House. This was a trip full of firsts for me and I am so happy that I made the last minute decision to visit my family and explore Michigan!

Back in February I talked about the importance of Motown with both my 7th and 8th graders. Today I got to visit the Motown Museum in Detroit with my dad, sister, and uncle. It was such an awesome experience being able to sing and dance where Diana Ross, The Temptations, and Marvin Gaye recorded hits!

If you’re one of my 8th graders, my uncle may look familiar! Back in June, my 8th graders did an interview on Google Meet with my Uncle Mike to learn about the Vietnam War from a Veteran. It was awesome to have this experience with my uncle— a vet, fellow Motown lover, and Detroit native 🎶🤍

Hi everyone! It’s that time of year again where I start to prepare for the upcoming school year 📚
Please consider donating to my 7th & 8th grade social studies classroom or sharing the link on your pages or with your friends and family. The list has a wide range of items from class supplies, hygiene items, snacks, games, decor, furniture, etc. I received an overwhelming amount of support last year that made my first year teaching so successful and I am beyond grateful. Thank you 💘

I made so many amazing memories this year with my students and I spent hours coming up with so many different lessons that I would occasionally post throughout the year, but I never post or talk about my coworkers, my fellow 7/8 team. I have been so lucky to have such a great school year and such awesome kids, but I’ve been even luckier to have such amazing and absolutely hilarious coworkers too. Cheers to our team and to more years as a team together! We did it! 🥳

I met Abby my “junior” year of college a semester after returning from my leave of absence. Little did I know at the time, she had returned from hers to, and for the same reasons as I did. We were instantly connected and almost inseparable. Throughout the semester we did EVERYTHING together — went to all of our classes, studied together, went out for lunch, or to Squeeze for smoothies, and along the way she became my best friend. Last year she attended my graduation ceremony and this year I was so lucky to have her extend the invite to hers. Seeing your best friend walk the stage and achieve the things people told us we couldn’t is such an amazing feeling and I am so beyond proud of her. Working with her in school, on research projects, and then making her apply and be my coworker at TWO different jobs has been such a wild ride, but I’m so happy that she became the best friend along the way.
