This week at Birdie's Book Nest we are reading A Garden to Save the Birds by Wendy McClure and Beatriz Mayumi, a powerful picture book that shows how even the smallest actions can make a big difference for our feathered friends.

When a bird flies into their window, siblings Callum and Emmy discover that from the outside, glass can look just like the sky. They learn that birds across the country are struggling, but families like theirs can help. By making their windows safer, adding feeders, and creating a welcoming garden, they turn their backyard into a haven for birds.

We’re thrilled to welcome guest reader Ava Landgraf, Conservation and Research Coordinator at the Detroit Bird Alliance, who will share this inspiring story and give kids the chance to see real taxidermy birds up close. It’s a unique opportunity to connect books, science, and conservation in one special morning.
