The other forms of Buddhism come from people mixing their old religion with it, different interpretations of scripture and different emphasis on certain practices.

Theravada Buddhism is the oldest form, so I assume it's the closest 2 Buddha teaching. It's popular in Southeast Asia. It takes many lifetimes to become enlightened.

Mahayana Buddhism is popular in Far East Asia. It focus on helping humanity get enlightenment, instead of just yourself. They have the bodhisattvas. They are spirits of the deceased that help other people become enlightened. U can become enlightened in this lifetime.

Zen Buddhism is practiced in Japan. Korean monks brought it there. They got it from China. It is a mixture of Mahayana Buddhism and Taoism. It emphasizes meditating and studying koans. Pureland Buddhism was also created in China.

Korean Buddhism is a mixture of shamanism and Mahayana.

Tibetan Buddhism is a form of Mahayana Buddhism called Vjarayana. TB has ta**ra and Bon in it. It the most magical form of Buddhism. It is the quickest way to enlightenment and the most dangerous.
