Be the bright spot today! We continue our Su***de Awareness and Prevention Week by dressing up in our brightest colors to brighten someone's day! You can also brighten their day by saying something kind, a small gesture of kindness or even a smile as you walk through the hallways.

Today's stats:

According to the Center for Disease and Control and National Center for Health Statistics, 616,000 people visit the emergency room for reported incidents of self-harm based on a 2022 survey.

As we continue our su***de prevention week, today we want to talk about changing the narrative. Today, we are encouraging you to write a note of appreciation or encouragement to a friend or staff member who has made a difference in your life. Also, wear an inspirational or positive shirt.

Here's today's stats:
According to the National Alliance on Mental Illness 12 percent of young adults age 18-25 say they've had serious thoughts about su***de in the last year.
20 percent of high schoolers reported serious thoughts about su***de and 9 percent report at least one su***de attempt.

Every action counts- Simple acts, like checking on a friend, listening without judgement or sharing the 988 helpline play an important role in community prevention.

If you or a loved one struggle with these thoughts dial 988 and talk to a representative to help during difficult moments.

This week, our campus will be celebrating Su***de Prevention Week with today being Unpack your resources by bringing anything but a backpack! Bring your school stuff in anything but a backpack. This symbolizes that one should not carry life's baggage alone.

Su***de is the third leading cause of death among 15-29 year-olds according to the World Health Organization.

if you or a loved one are struggling you can dial 988 and speak to a lifeline counselor for help during difficult moments.
