Join us in welcoming our newest instructor, Dr. Jing Zhang!

Dr. Zhang is an Adjunct Professor of Voice in the Department of Music at Saint Leo University, where she teaches applied voice and courses in music appreciation. A classical mezzo-soprano and vocal pedagogue, Dr. Zhang holds a Doctorate of Musical Arts in Vocal Performance with a minor in Arts Administration from the University of Wisconsin–Madison, and she holds a Performance Diploma from the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University.
Jing strives to create a supportive, student-centered approach for her teaching. Her number one priority as a teacher is to encourage creative, comfortable, and collaborative environments where students feel free to explore their voice.

Dr. Zhang is now accepting private voice students middle school age and older.

The 2026/2027 school year is off to a great start! Private lessons have begun, and we’re getting excited about our group classes!

☀️Musikgarten: This class is for toddlers and a caregiver to enjoy together. Ages 15 months-3 years old will enjoy singing, movement, and exploring instruments.

🎵Show Choir: Experience the joy of musical theatre and choral music with instructor Mindy Prendes! This weekly group class will give students the opportunity to learn vocal technique and theatre skills while developing stage presence.

🎻String Ensemble: This class is an opportunity for the string students of Prelude Academy to study and perform orchestral music in a group setting. Students will develop skills in orchestra etiquette, technique, performance, and audition preparation.

📚Music Appreciation for Homeschoolers: Homeschool students grades 9th-12th will study the history of music, learn about instrumentation and ensembles, and develop listening skills as they explore different musical genres. This class will lay a foundation of musical knowledge and focus on the seven periods of music.

☀️What an incredible summer of music at Prelude Academy of the Arts! Thank you to all of our campers, staff, volunteers, and sponsors for making our summer camps possible. From preschool music to chamber orchestra, we have had a fun (and busy) month of music education!
🎵All of our campers put on incredible performances at the end of each camp. We are so impressed with how much music they could learn in only 4 days. Thank you to everyone who came to support our student musicians.

🎉New Year, New Classes! Registration is now open for Musikgarten and Beginning Violin.

🎵Musikgarten (ages 15 months-3 years old): This class is designed for children and their grown-ups to experience the joy of music making together. This curriculum will help to develop your child’s language, singing, dancing, and listening skills. They’ll also explore a variety of musical instruments! While our movement activities may look like pure fun, they help instill body awareness and control, coordination, and the joy of musical movement.

🎻Beginning Violin: This class is for ages 4-6 to enjoy with a caregiver. This class includes all materials (including instrument rental) and lays the foundation for beginning violin technique. This class uses the research-based “Wee Violin” curriculum by Crystal Boyack and is complimentary to the Suzuki method of violin pedagogy.
